The Sint-Bavokerk is the parish church in the Belgian village of Lauwe. The church is dedicated to Saint Bavo.
First there was a mission church in Lauwe, a wooden chapel. The first to baptize the church was St. Obertus, then missionaries came from the school of St. Amandus and St. Bavo. In 1143 there was a church built of stone. According to the building style of the time, the church must have been built in Romanesque style. It was a church with large pillars, low and heavy vaults and round-arched windows. Between 1350 and 1400 a new church was built. Nothing is known about the reason for the new church building. The building material tells us that it was probably built at the end of the 14th century. The building was built in Gothic style. It also had a Tournai influence. Between 1880 and 1882 this church was demolished because of its dilapidation. Next to it, a new oriented three-aisled church was erected in neo-Gothic style. This still stands and was founded in 1877-1879 to a design by L. De Geyne. This church was surrounded by a cemetery and a wall. The wall was demolished in 1940, the cemetery was cleared and is now a parking lot.
