The Steenberg forests form a recognized nature reserve in the Flemish Ardennes in South-East Flanders. The reserve of 30 ha is located on the territory of the city of Zottegem and is managed by Natuurpunt department Zwalm valley. The site is recognised as a European Natura 2000 Habitats Directive site and is part of the Flemish Ecological Network. Additional plots were purchased in 2015 and 2016; In 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2021, several plots were reforested during tree planting actions.
