Heiderbos is a special nature reserve (100 ha) because it is home to the largest juniper population in Western Europe: at least 7000 bushes grow here. The juniper bushes are our 'problem children', as their regeneration is not going well. This is being monitored scientifically. If you have time, you can walk into the reserve from here or via the entrance along the Cantonal road.
