Description

The Grote Ge(k)te is a nature reserve in the Grote Gete Valley between Zoutleeuw and Linter. It is a patchwork of poplar forests, willow thickets, alder forests and grasslands. Small watercourses and canals cut through the valley. This beautiful piece of nature of 210 hectares is the habitat of some special cherished neighbours such as the great crested newt, kingfisher, barn swallow, blackthorn page, water shrew, water bat and meadow damselfly. You will find the walking area of the Grote Ge(k)te along the cycle route "Ijzerenweg" at the end of the Dotermontstraat in Linter, between cycle junctions 50 and 58.
