In the shadow of St. Lawrence's Church is a 19th-century building, known as Huis Beernaert. It was purchased by the Province of East Flanders to house the Provincial Archaeological Museum Ename (pam Ename). It is located between the Lijnwaadmarkt and the Enameplein.
Openings were made in the three sides of the garden wall that respectively face the St. Lawrence Church, the archaeological site and the Bos t' Ename.
A bronze sculpture group by Dirk De Middeleer from Sint-Lievens-Esse was placed in the garden.
The museum, which opened its doors on September 11, 1998, shows the daily life of the Enaaman community, from the early Middle Ages to the present day. By presenting the past in a way that is recognizable to everyone, the museum aims to involve the public more closely with that past and its unique heritage.
