The oldest Cistercian Gothic church from the 13th century, built in the typical iron sandstone of the region. The Church of Our Lady is the oldest church in Diest. Until 1253 it served as a castle chapel of the noble family of the Lords of Diest. The chapel gave way to a parish church in early Gothic style, which was consecrated in 1288. The church suffered greatly from the Iconoclasm in 1580, in which all iron and lead from the vaults was demolished. The interior mainly dates from the 17th and 18th centuries, with the brass baptismal font, the neo-Gothic pulpit from 1870, the Grotto of Lourdes and a copper Madonna of Fatima by Kamiel Colruyt (1946) as eye-catchers.
