Description

NL : The black alder prefers to grow on water-rich soils. In addition, it lives in symbiosis with bacteria that supply nitrogen to the tree, which occur in tubers on the roots of the tree. The fruits are woody and remain on the tree for a long time. Birds, such as, love the seeds that are in these fruits, the alder plugs. In winter it is a beautiful spectacle to see the birds at work in an alder grove.

FR : L'aulne glutineux est un arbre qui apprécie l'eau. Il peut pousser sur des sols détrempés car ses racines vivent en symbiosis avec des bactéries fixatrices d'azote. Regardez les feuilles d'aulne : on dirait que leur sommet manque. Les oiseaux comme les mésanges sont friands des graines qui sont cachées dans les fruits en forme de petits cônes ligneux. En hiver, pouvoir observer les oiseaux s'affairer dans une aulnaie est un magnifique spectacle.
