Walking with Saint James
Built between 1459 and 1518, the church has largely preserved its late Gothic architecture. Notable are the Baroque pulpit (1689) and the sacrament tower (1593). The church also possesses several valuable paintings and various monumental tomb monuments and copper grave slabs.
In this pilgrimage church on the way to Compostela, the polychrome statue of Saint James catches our attention. The statue dates back to the 15th century. James can always be recognized as the pilgrim with the long cloak, wide-brimmed hat, staff, travel bag, and drinking gourd. His face has an extraordinary expression. At his feet, two pilgrims are kneeling on their way to Compostela.
This church is an Open Church.
