Connecterra

This place was selected as one of the 15 most staggering views in Flanders by De Morgen. Connecterra is said to have 'the most beautiful panorama of Flanders.' An ambitious title for a domain that just a quarter of a century ago was still pulling coal from the ground. But that past has become their strength. Once you pass the modern visitor center, the phenomenal views come in rapid succession. Especially the majestic mine towers that rise above the trees make it impossible not to look around in awe. Those bursting with energy can also climb the towers themselves. You can't go higher than 12 meters, but that's more than high enough to spot the breathtaking panorama. But the absolute crowd pullers are the three spoil heaps by the lake. Besides souvenirs from typical Limburg mining, these mounds of stone are especially the perfect viewpoints on the large pool that lies in the center of the area. Especially from the sixty-meter-high Twin Spoil Heap, you have a monumental view.
