Crach of the Lancaster I ME846
The war memorial is a reminder of a war drama. In the night of 21 to 22 June 1944 - just before midnight of the longest-day-of-the-year - several RAF squadrons of fighter planes and bombers took off from various airfields in England with destination Wesseling near Cologne. Target: Bombing of German factories and synthetic fuel installations. The Lancaster 1C-ME846, with a crew of seven, also participated.
