St. Catherine's Church is a parish church in 's-Gravenwezel, a borough of the Flemish municipality of Schilde.
In the 12th century, Ename Abbey owned large parts of the region around 's-Gravenwezel. Probably around 1200 she founded the parish of 's-Gravenwezel there and retained the patronage of it. In the 13th century, the lords of Marbais began to buy land in 's-Gravenwezel - including in 1259 from the abbey of Hemiksem. They soon became involved in the appointment of parish priests, then a coveted office due to the proceeds of all kinds of services. This led to tensions: for example, as early as 1279 there was a dispute between the lords of Marbais and the abbey of Ename about the appointment of a parish priest. The Bishop of Cambrai confirmed that the lords of Marbais had indeed been allowed to appoint the previous parish priest, but that this was only a one-time favor.
