Shale Farm

Formerly a farmhouse with separate components, located against the Provinciesteenweg, in recent residential areas, now only used as a home. Stable house (ridge perpendicular to the street) with core from the 18th century, planted on fenced and hedged property. Located on the former "herbane", namely the former earthen road from Antwerp to Lier. Owners known from the second half of the 15th century. In oldest mention, name "Wouters goet" van Karenbroeck; The name "Schaliehoeve" appears for the first time in 1634. In the 16th century there was mention of an inn in Putte, and in 1753 of a large farm. The grounds of this farm were parcelled out in 1964, as a result of which the barn was lost and the adjoining stables were converted into a house.
