A high dike separates the footpath from the newly constructed meadow bird areas Doelpolder Noord and the Brakke Kreek. Both zones were set up as nature reserves to compensate for the nature that was lost during the construction of the Kieldrecht lock. Doelpolder Noord was transformed into a wet and relief-rich meadow area with ditches, ponds and pools. The result is a paradise for meadow birds such as redshank, black-tailed godwit and teal in spring, and waders, ducks and geese in winter. Walking on the dike is forbidden, so as not to disturb the birds. Fortunately, there are two hides along the way to watch the residents flying in and out in peace. Interchange 90-91-92.
Mock: In Doelpolder Noord, the nature reserve near the Doel nuclear power plant, you can spot numerous meadow birds such as black-tailed godwit and redshank. Or look through the bird-watching wall at the active common tern island.
