Description

The Kapittelhuys is the former home of the canons, attached to the St. Gorgonius Church. Thanks to Countess Alpaïdis, a chapter of canons was founded around 981 to enhance the ecclesiastical services of singing and prayer. The chapter consisted of 12 members and continued to exist even during the French rule; The property was confiscated.
Since 1981, the Kapittelhuys has been owned by the municipality, the park has been set up as a theme park for gardens.
The ground floor of the Kapittelhuys is furnished as a tavern with a large sun terrace overlooking the wide avenue in the garden.
