Wild daffodils

8 years ago, head gardener, Geert Derom, went in search of plants that thrive under the large trees of the park. His eye fell on the spring-flowering bulbs, which are ideal because they bloom in winter and spring when there are no leaves on the trees. Because of the bare branches, the bulbs catch a lot of light and the precipitation from the winter showers reaches below the treetop. Once the leaves are on the trees, the leaves have died. The following bulbs bloom under the trees: wild daffodils, scillas, anemones, Trilliums and wild hyacinths. Snowdrops and corydalises are also recommended. The bulbs multiply very quickly year after year.
