Dear visitor, I invite you to take a stroll through the history of the place known as La Cloute, the café, and its motorcycle past:
It is on the site of an old nail factory that the original café opened its doors in the early 1900s. We are in the years before the war and the border and smuggling cafés flourished. Indeed, the building was next to a path that connected Belgium to France via a ford crossing the Elnon. This stream served as a border.
The establishment took advantage of this privileged location to set up a grocery store and a bar in the building. This business remained active until around 1965 (66?) under the management of Gaston Lemaine known as "de la Cloute." He even had his tailor workshop in the room near the bar ...
