Ten cemeteries and twelve mine shafts testify to the First World War, which left the village in ruins. The neo-Gothic church was built in 1924-25 by architects H. and M. Leborgne, who erected several buildings, including a school and convent, in the village after the war.
The new church features three aisles and a tower with a spire and four corner turrets. Its shape deviated significantly from the previous late Gothic church. During the religious wars at the end of the 16th century, the church had already been destroyed.
The austere interior incorporates brick and natural stone, also in confessionals, baptismal fonts… "Saint Godelieve of the Linde" is a statue originating from the chapel that was previously used in the neighborhood "De Linde."
Jules Anneessens built the current organ in 1929.
