In front of you are some grasslands. The nature association Limburgs Landschap vzw is impoverishing the richer, once-fertile grasslands by mowing them annually and not adding any more fertilizer. Through this form of nature management, the almost uniformly green grasslands with only a few grass species are transforming year by year into flower-rich hay meadows with great biodiversity.
Different plant species such as sheep's sorrel, bulrush, field rush, and knapweed show that progress is being made. The flower-rich grasslands are indeed the habitat for butterfly species such as the small copper, the orange tip, and the Icarus blue!
