Description

The western part of the Rot was thoroughly transformed into a fallback option for the avifauna from the Blokkersdijk nature reserve during the Oosterweel works. There were already two ponds in the area, but an extra large pond of about 5 ha and a new stream were constructed. Adapted vegetation was provided around the water and rough rushes and sea rushes can be found. This should make the area more attractive for water-related bird species. For the time being, it is still difficult to identify trends in this direction. Species that have been seen here before include shelduck, gadwall, tufted duck and shoveler.
