The cave of St Remacle, an Ardennes apostle, is located in the rock face on the steep bank of the Semois. It is a set of three hollows carved into the rock and a witness to the Christianization in our region from the 7th E. Remaclus stayed here before founding the abbey in Stavelot.
Legend has it that St Remaclus lived here with his donkey who went to collect the donations of the population in the surrounding villages. Satan, who had the news of venomen, turned himself into a wolf and killed the donkey. Remaclus caught the wolf and hung his rosary around his neck. From then on, the wolf was doomed to do the daily rounds in the villages to collect the food.

When he woke up, St. Remacle found the kennel empty. The hell wolf had run off, leaving as a souvenir a horrible stench of sulfur that the holy man quickly chased away by making a fire of heather and mint herb in the niche
