This part of the landscape has originated from several castle estates: Ertbrugge and Zwarte Arend. The castles themselves have been preserved, but their estates have changed significantly. Ertbrugge is the oldest and dates back to the 14th century as a farm. The current neoclassical castle was built around 1800. The estate of Zwarte Arend has largely been subdivided and integrated into the residential fabric. The Ertbrugge estate is ecologically very important because it contains an extensive spring flora such as wood anemone. It also features other typical species of oak-alder forests: musk herb and currant. This may be related to the presence of clay in the soil and the age of the forest.
