Chapel in Boembeke

This is the chapel located on the Langendries in Zottegem (Sint-Goriks-Oudenhove) next to the 'Hostellerie' and on the corner of an old standard orchard. The orchard and the chapel belong to Natuurpunt.

The chapel was in need of restoration: the foundation failed somewhat, so that the chapel at the foot gradually moved apart. There was also work on the roofing, the exterior carpentry and the painting inside. It was vzw Boembeke that took the initiative here to preserve this architectural heritage for the future.

The chapel on Sunday 28 June 2009, on the occasion of the Boembeke festivities, was rededicated by Monsignor Luc Van Looy.

The Royal Music Society Sint-Cecilia van Sint-Maria-Oudenhove accompanied the bishop from the café de Bloemfontein on the Langendries in Zottegem (Sint-Goriks-Oudenhove) to the chapel in Boembeke. Subsequently, the three mayors (Brakel, Zottegem and Zwalm) started the now restored diesel engine at the Boembekemolen.
