Description

This forest area is very popular with hikers. In the 35 ha parish field and Bruwaanbos you will find 'de Bisserij' in the middle of a beautiful pond with crystal clear water. A little further on you will discover an adventurous play forest. The nature reserve Vorte Bossen is no less than 50 ha in size and you will find numerous breeding bird species such as the woodpecker, buzzard and sparrowhawk. The name 'Vorte forests' refers to the very humid environment with a rotting ground cover. Hikers are always welcome in the northern part of the reserve, where many lanes have been opened up. Explore this forest area using the signposted Bruwaanpad (4.5 km - start in the Kruisbergstraat) or the Parish Field Walking Route (8.5 km).
