The Sint-Pietersveld is a vast area on the border of Wingene and Ruiselede. In the middle of this area are the Radio Maritime Services with the radio towers that used to provide the connections with seagoing vessels. The broadcasting station became the property of the Ministry of Defence in 2001 and is still active. A nature reserve of 120 ha was created around the listed buildings. The nature reserve 'de Gulke Putten' is rich in remnants of wet and dry heathland, grasslands, coppice with flowery paths and clearings with orchids. It is partly opened by Natuurpunt. Explore the area with the signposted red (5.4 km) or blue walk (7.2 km) or venture on the boot trail! Those who prefer to get to know the area more extensively can also go on a trip with the Wildenbrug hiking trail!
