Scheldeburcht Castle is a castle in the West Flemish town of Avelgem, located at Kasteelstraat 5.
In 1202 the seat of the lords of Avelgem was mentioned for the first time. It could be a keep. In 1269 there was already a castle, in the vicinity of the church. Possibly a new castle was built in the 15th century, commissioned by Louis of Gruuthuse. It is also possible that the huus of playsance was not built until the 16th century. During the religious wars, the castle was heavily damaged, after which Catherine of Bruges had it repaired.
