Vloethemveld

Anyone who walks around Zedelgem today and passes by the Vloethemveld can hardly imagine it, but this place played an important role in both world wars. The military domain is rarely accessible to the public because of its exceptional natural values. Ask Tourism Zedelgem about the possibilities for guided tours on this theme. But the woods around the military domain, on former heathland, are perfect for a nature walk. Through a robust watchtower you have a view of this military domain with special war history and beautiful nature. For the children there is a fun play area: a totem pole, fun entrance gates with animals in beautiful carvings, stepping blocks, wooden play mushrooms, a camp and a tunnel, a sand mountain with picnic benches,... stimulate the imagination.

In the coming years, there will be a strong focus on the further development of the Vloethemveld as an educational heritage and nature site. The construction of a cycle path and a new footpath have already begun. A viewing platform and the extension of the reception area are also on the programme. More info to follow!
