In Machelen-aan-de-Leie, the home base of the late Roger Raveel, you can visit two of his studios in the Hoevestraat by appointment. At the end of the 1960s, Raveel transformed an old flax barn into a spacious painter's studio, where he painted and drew. The studio, which has now been expertly renovated with respect for the past, has a unique collection of drawings, paintings, a collection of graphics, some objects and rare memorabilia. They show the development of an artist: from figurative to abstract, the genesis of the New Vision, placing each work in a fascinating context of space and time. In addition, there is the Graphics Workshop. The room, where he made countless etchings, woodcuts and linocuts, evokes memories of Staf Raveel, his father. It was he who taught him how to carve wood at a young age.
On the attic floor there is a fully equipped auditorium where visitors can watch a video film about Raveel's life and work.
Visits by appointment only and for a maximum of 25 people. A visit to the studios can be perfectly combined with the Roger Raveel Museum, a little further in the village.
