The Passchendaele Memorial Park combines recreation and nature experience with the memory of the Battle of Passchendaele. In the park, 7 memorial gardens have been laid out in the symbolic shape of a poppy. These gardens are filled, at the request of the Memorial Museum Passchendaele 1917, by the different nations that participated in the Battle of Passchendaele, with a design that combines modern art, poetry, and symbolic vegetation from that country.
During the upcoming commemorative years, the different gardens will be opened. After a visit to the Memorial Museum Passchendaele 1917, you can take a reflective walk in the park to contemplate the horrors of World War I. The park also serves as the starting point for themed walks to Tyne Cot Cemetery and the Polygon Wood, as well as a bike ride that connects the WWI heritage in Zonnebeke.
More information about the walks can be found at http://www.flandersfields.be/nl/doen/wandelen-en-rond-zonnebeke.
