On the corner of Bietstraat stands a chapel from 1694. The street led to and through the lordship of Ter Biest. This lordship belonged to the Hof van Izegem and was located on the far west side of the Roeselare parish near the Veldbossen. However, the name of the street has been distorted. Perhaps it was once meant to be called Bieststraat, but when compiling the Atlas der Buurtwegen, it was already referred to as Bietstraat. This may have been a mistake. Therefore, the name of the street has nothing to do with the field crop.
