At the confluence of the Itterbeek and Eetsevelder- or Wijshagerbeek lies the Pollismolen. Contrary to what many people think, the Pollismolen is not located on the Itterbeek but on the Eetsevelderbeek. This is because the course of the streams used to be changed to keep the water wheel running. There used to be about 15 watermills spread along the Itterbeek over a distance of 27.5 km. There are four nearby: the Rooiermolen, the Stalsmolen, the Vinckemolen (or Kasteelmolen) and the Pollismolen. Only the Stalsmolen pressed linseed, turnip or rapeseed oil. The others were grain mills. The Pollismolen is the perfect starting point to explore the valley. It last milled in 1961. Now, like the surrounding hayfields and orchard, it is owned by the municipality of Bree. The mill was restored in 1991 and is again millable.
