The fantastic statue of Nello and Patrasche on the Antwerp Handschoenmarkt. The white marble statue designed by Batist Vermeulen is 1.10 meters high and 1.80 meters wide. The figures come from the novel 'A Dog of Flanders' (1872) by the English author Marie Louise de la Ramée, also known as Ouida. Nello is a poor orphan boy in a poor farming village on the outskirts of the city of Antwerp who has a strong friendship with his dog.
