The Manor, together with the Church of Our Lady and Saint Leodegarius, dominates the spacious village square of Bornem.
The yellowish sandstone and architectural concept may mislead you and suggest a medieval origin, but this building is much more recent. It was built in 1913-1914 in neo-Flemish Renaissance style, after a design by provincial architect Careels. Construction and finishing were significantly delayed by the outbreak of WWI.
The year of construction is indicated on the window frame of the second floor of the tower. The mansion was inaugurated as a town hall in 1925 and served as such until 1961.
In the Manor you will find the tourist information office, the council chamber, the wedding hall and the municipal archive.
