Description

This chapel was erected in 1875-1876 around an early 17th century cross. Later, a beautiful statue of Christ was added by Wouter Pompe. This statue was knocked off the cross and damaged during the battles of the Boer War. It has been kept for a long time in a side chapel of the cave.

On the occasion of 200 years of Boerenkrijg, the statue was returned to the chapel. The neo-Romanesque style of the chapel is quite exceptional because most chapels at that time were built in neo-Gothic style. The "Cruysbergh" itself was a place that was already mentioned in the early 1500s.
