The City of Geel, together with Regional Landscape Kleine and Grote Nete, is starting to draw up a revaluation plan for the slow roads in Geel.
Slow roads, also known as neighbourhood roads and footpaths, are roads, paths or connections that are primarily intended for walkers and cyclists. That's why they're referred to as "slow roads." These roads are often unknown, which means that they are rarely used. This is a pity, because these roads not only have an important function to fulfil recreationally, but are also a safe alternative for vulnerable road users such as school-age youth. As an additional asset, slow roads usually harbor a high cultural-historical value.
Eddy and Rita: The Velveek footpath is one of these beautiful roads! You must have seen it and walked it!
