The nature reserve Heideveld-Bornebeek (30 ha) is a heather from the former sand region around Bruges the 17th century. The area is about 30 hectares large and consists of heath, a moorland, grasslands and beautiful lanes to connect everything. The heather is home to many interesting plants such as Struikhei, Ordinary dophei, Kruipbrem and many more. The fen is home to a large number of aquatic animals that can be searched for from the water by means of the barren path. It is also possible to spot dragonflies and damselflies flying above the water.
Through the applied management, parts of the area are opened up in order to preserve the original landscape. The meadows were teased and the grasslands were mown and hormed to remove nutrients, so that more interesting plants could conquer a place here.
