Casier Castle was inhabited during WWI by Baroness Marie-Victorine Storme, widow of Baron Victor Casier. During the shelling during the liberation, the castle was heavily damaged. The archive of the Royal Waregemse Koersevereniging, which was kept in the castle, went up in flames.
The castle was restored and expanded after the war. The southern extension was enlarged, there was a rectangular wing, an extension of the salon and a terrace at the rear.
During the Second World War, the people of Waregem prayed at the small chapel at the entrance of the city park for peace and a safe outcome of the war.
We also find a plaque for Adolf Cannie at the entrance gate of the park. This man, a resistance fighter from Wakken, was also shot here on September 5, 1944 by German soldiers
