Auberge le barbeau is a pleasant place to eat and drink at the church in Sippenaeken.
In spring, the sheltered courtyard is the ideal place to enjoy the first rays of sunshine outside and a delicious lunch of course. On the sunny terrace on the square you feel like summer in France, delicious with a cool drink there. And in the autumn perhaps just sit outside or otherwise comfortable inside with a nice cup of soup for example. In the winter there is a cozy and cozy dining by a crackling fireplace. The dishes change with the seasons. They are always pure, original, tasty and prepared with loving attention. The reception is friendly, welcoming and hospitable. At Le Barbeau they know what pampering is, you can eat 'who joys bie de mam' and come back if it's good!
Le Barbeau means....
Le Barbeau is french for "the cornflower". The cornflower has become rare and here in Wallonia this beautiful blue- purple flower is officially known as "endangered". Luckily you can sometimes encounter it in the fields in our area.
When we opened our Auberge in 1995, we didn't have to think long about the name. A French name in Wallonia was not only practical, but also beautiful. And isn't the free translation of "barbeau" not "cosy café"?
It was certain that our Auberge would be something special and elegant, just like the wild cornflower. Whether it's rare, let's get on with it!
Here in Sippenaeken we spoil our guests as always with a well-filled dis, a good glass of wine or a typical Belgian beer. All this for a nice price. Epicureans are at the right place here!
