Experience garden Hooidonk - Zandhoven

The Hooidonk park forms a green zone between the centres of Zandhoven and Zoersel. The care home is located just opposite the VTI Zandhoven school. Not only students and teachers use the park, the inhabitants from the area also come here to recreate. The park has a lot of diversity. Forests, lawns, bushes and ponds alternate.

When you walk through the park (which has 5 kilometers of wheelchair accessible paths), you will find a number of elements on your path such as a pond with water fountain, small farm animals, flowery grassland, playground, coniferous forest, deciduous forest, mini golf, beds, petanque courts, shaved massifs, ...

The park is part of a 12 ha site. The park can evolve further as a collaborative project into an exemplary project.

The project aims to actively involve adapted target groups in nature and environmental activities with a specific focus on health and well-being (physical and psychological health). A versatile, natural experience garden with very different biotopes should challenge people to actively go out or take the time to simply enjoy the green surroundings.

The project focuses on different target groups from 0 to 100 years. By everyone from the area, associations and schools,... actively involved in the project also strengthens the social fabric.
