Mixed closing hedges at the vegetable garden

On the corner with Kazernestraat, along the street side, there is a vegetable garden enclosed by a mixed hedge. Originally, this enclosing hedge consisted of partly hawthorn and partly yew. The hedge was supplemented with privet and hornbeam, and there is also a natural mixture of maple, ash, and holly. It concerns a clipped hedge that, with the exception of ash, is trimmed to hedge height. The overgrown ash branches are presumably harvested here for firewood, such as: bean poles or hoe handles.
