The creeks Grote Kreek and Pereboomsgat are located in the north of the municipalities of Wachtebeke and Moerbeke Waas, near the border with the Netherlands. The area is part of the creek area of Overslag – Zuiddorpe, a transition area between a larger creek area that extends further to the north and Sandy Flanders in the south. The large sand ridge Maldegem-Stekene in the south forms a natural border between these areas.
