In the hamlet of Vitschen, the road splits at a cast-iron tap into two. The road Schophemmerhei runs eastward up the plateau and is very deeply incised here. The hollow road runs between slopes with mixed wooded edges and standing oak and ash. On the plateau, the road offers open views of the surrounding meadows and the historical reclamation of Schophemerheide. The road continues between forest parcels to the east towards Kattenrot and then follows the border with the Netherlands, ultimately ending at the farmhouse hamlet of Ulvend. This partly hollow road forms the historical connection between Vitschen and the heathland reclamation in the common heath 'Bruyere de Choppem'. The road also provided further connection to the east and constituted an important transport route. On the current topographical map, this road is still referred to as 'heerbaan'. This may possibly be a reference to the noble duty to maintain the main roads. On the other hand, there is also the possibility that this is an old Roman heerbaan, constructed on the watershed ridge between the Voerdal and the Valley of the Noorbeek. Along the south side of the road, there are two road crosses at the juncture of paths that run south.
