After the First World War, the "Compagnie Internationale pour la Fabrication Mécanique de Verre" (F.M.V.) was created, which would operate the American Libbey-Owens method for the manufacture of glass in a number of new European branches, such as Mol-Gompel, ideally located at the crossroads of a canal and a railway, Sint-Etienne in France, Barcelona, Venice,... The process was later fine-tuned by I.W. Colburn, see street name.
