Simonshuis, named after the former owners, a prominent Achelse family of teuts and mayors, who built the house in 1883. Later known for some time as Villa Schellens, named after the industrialist Frans Schellens (1878-1968) from Eindhoven, who was the later owner and resident as well as the founder of the company "Tissage de Velours," which was located at the back during the period of 1913-77. Erected on the site of a former low white teuten farm with a stable, barn, and shop, which was accessed by an oak avenue. In 1944-45, it served as the headquarters of General Dempsey and a meeting place for General Eisenhower and Field Marshal Montgomery.
