Hoeve Neerhof by the Leie

* Kasteeldreef nr. 14. The so-called "Neerhof ter Leie" name refers to the nearby Leie (to the north). The farm is included in the protected landscape (Royal Decree of 15.04.1965). Historical farm with the oldest mentions dating back to 1660. Indicated on the Ferraris map (1770-1778) and the Atlas of Local Roads (1843). The buildings were severely damaged during the bombings of March 16, 1944. The cart shed, pigsty, and oven neighbor were completely destroyed. The farm is located northwest of the castle of Marke. Long southern driveway marked by poplars. The farm exhibits a closed arrangement U-shaped grouped around an unpaved yard. Whitewashed, anchored brick components under tiled saddle roofs. Farmhouse to the north, barn to the east, and stable wing to the south. Farmhouse of five bays with a chamber on the right (yard façade). Rectangular windows with preserved frames; small grid division in the upper lights. Rectangular door with divided transom light. Freestanding side façade characterized by slightly arched upper windows under a brick drip cornice. Cross-barn with incorporated cart shed dated 1839 cf. year anchors side façade; basket-arch gate.
