Castle Ter Wallen

Castle known as "Ter Wallen", currently a country residence. Located within a largely preserved rectangular rampart. Access over the moat with a bridge and wrought iron gate with a cobbled driveway. Rectangular cellar building from the 19th century, five bays and two stories under a gabled roof (slates, ridge parallel to the street) with a dormer and oeil de boeuf. Plastered facade on a cemented base with double house elevation. Arched lower windows with preserved wooden frames and decorative fanlights. Rectangular upper windows with continuous dripstones. White shutters. Arched door with flanking pilasters with Ionic capitals and a cornice. Cemented rear facade with rectangular windows with shutters; on the upper floor, bordered window frames with keystones. Right upper window with imitation frame. Left later added cemented extension (kitchen) of two stories under a flat roof. To the north, a coach house and gardener's residence three bays wide and three bays deep under a gabled roof (tiles, ridge perpendicular to the street), from the 19th century. Except for the north facade, painted pink. South and north facades, facing the house and vegetable garden, rhythmically arranged by an arched arcade containing a rectangular gate and door. Facades of the service house with arched upper windows in the archivolt of the arcade, on supporting oculi. Manure pit and eel pump against the east facade. To the north of the residence, a vegetable garden with a bombed greenhouse, attached to the enclosing wall. Cave work at the large pond in the garden.
