National Highway No. 490. Neoclassical mansion from 1875 with flax factory behind it. According to the land registry, the house was built in 1875 for notary Auguste Vermeulen from Wielsbeke, with two flanking buildings to the northwest (disappeared) and to the northeast. Around 1910, the house was divided into three residential units by owner Gustaaf Claerhout from Ingelmunster. In 1914 he had a flax factory built to the north of the house. In 1928, the house was reunited by flax merchant Camiel Martin. The eastern outbuilding will be demolished to make way for a flax barn, the flax factory will be rebuilt with roterij behind it. Around 1940 the company was enlarged by the new owner, flax merchant Carolus Declerck - Holvoet. Double house of five bays and two storeys under slate hipped roof, flanked on both sides by single-storey extensions under mansard roof in black glazed tiles (with remnants of frost crest). Plastered street façade with imitation jointing and belted frames. Natural stone plinth, plastered cornice, imitation keystones and water mouldings. Renewed frame gutter. Rectangular wall openings with wooden T-windows, on the first floor with wrought iron balustrades. Adjacent outbuilding in whitewashed brick construction under hipped roof in black Flemish tiles (ridge perpendicular to the street), round-arched wall openings. Central iron fence between high cemented pillars with imitation joint, fluted band and vase crowning, with natural stone scaffolding posts on both sides.
