Hoeve 't Waterhof

No. 23. So-called "'t Waterhof" cf. Wooden nameplate, after recently disappeared ramparts (still indicated on staff map of 1979). On the Atlas der Buurtwegen (ca. 1843) referred to as "Ferme de Knockx", on the P.C. Poppkaart (ca. 1850) as "Ferme Cokx" in the "Cokx straet", said to be after the former Decock family. Reconstruction farm of 1921 n.o.v. M. (?) Allaert (Kortrijk) with slight changes compared to the plan, e.g. omission of loading window above wagon house. Based on the regional farmstead construction cf., arrangement: loose, low brick components U-shaped arranged around an unpaved yard, going back to the XIX map material; farmhouse, stables with covered manure heap at the back and imposing high barn to the N., W. and S. respectively; planting: entrance gate between brick piers to the E., flanked by two lime trees; on the short driveway, chapel - not indicated on the 'existing situation' of 1914, nor on the reconstruction plan - with a three-sided apse, dedicated to Our Lady Mediatrix; Materials: dark anchored brick construction, old wall section preserved in the L.side wall of the barn; slightly curved tiled gable roofs; local building elements: gables and spouts with wickerwork, sometimes finished with roofs; roof overhang on wooden modillons; basket-arched and straight. wall openings, l.g. under lintels of cast iron or simili stone, repetition of elaborate drip mouldings; at the barn, basket-arched gates and light slots; in the r.barn side façade, cellar gate under cast iron I-beam and double decorative relieving arch, flanked by carved buttresses, in the gable oval oculus; at the farmhouse, originally cross-bar frames with small rod division and shuttered lower compartments; Layout: farmhouse of six bays; Cross barn with L.Wagenhuistrav. and r.potato cellar.
