Villa La Chapelle

Picturesque cottage in neo-Gothic style, built between 1880 and 1885 as a gardener's house for Castle Den Brandt, commissioned by the then castle owner Emile Augustin Joseph della Faille de Waerloos (1835-1890). Albert Kreglinger (1874-1953), director of the trading company G. & C. Kreglinger, had the cottage expanded and redesigned as a country house in 1926 according to the design of architect Joseph Hertogs. The same construction campaign included a now disappeared garage with a chauffeur's residence in the style of the main building. In 1937, some limited interventions followed, with modifications to the east and west facades. The villa was sold to the city of Antwerp in 1962, which made the building available in 1967 to the College for Developing Countries of the University Centre Antwerp (RUCA). Since 2003, the building has been under concession as a private residence.
