The villagescape of Vurste, a borough of Gavere, is dominated by the old, extensive castle domain Borgwal, once owned by the noble family Goethals. The Ghent bishop Triest had a country residence there in the 17th century. Now it offers a home for mentally disabled adults and is in the hands of the Brothers of Charity.
The enclosed domain can be visited on request.
