Café De Karper is certainly known to cycling enthusiasts, because the café owner is Ronie Keisse, father of Iljo Keisse. Iljo Keisse, born in 1982, is a Belgian track and road cyclist. He has already represented his country twice at the Olympic Games. In 2004 he finished 11th in the madison together with Matthew Gilmore. Four years later, in 2008, he rode alongside Kenny De Ketele to fourth place in the same event. Keisse is also a household name at the Ghent Six Days.
